Material selection
Substrate type:
PP sheet: mainstream choice, low cost, good temperature resistance, suitable for food packaging (must comply with FDA standards).
PETG sheet: high transparency+golden coating effect, suitable for high-end electronics or gift packaging.
PS sheet: Low cost, but poor temperature resistance, mostly used for short-term display trays.
Golden effect implementation method:
Masterbatch dyeing: Adding golden masterbatch to PP/PETG sheet, the color is uniform but the metallic feeling is weak.
Surface coating: Vacuum electroplating or spraying gold paint, with high glossiness but increased cost by 20% -30%.
Pearl powder mixture: Pearl powder (such as titanium dioxide coated mica) is added to the sheet to present a shimmering metallic texture.
2. Production process flow
Mold development:
Aluminum mold (preferred for mass production): High precision, fast heat dissipation, suitable for complex structures (such as embossed logos).
Copper mold (small batch): Low cost but short lifespan, used for trial production verification.
Sheet preparation:
The substrate (PP/PETG) is mixed with gold masterbatch in proportion and extruded into sheets (thickness 0.5-2.5mm) using an extruder.
Key control points: color difference (using a spectrophotometer with Δ E<1.5), thickness tolerance (± 0.05mm).
Vacuum forming:
Heating temperature: PP sheet 180-220 ℃, PETG sheet 120-150 ℃.
Vacuum adsorption: Polish the surface of the mold to mirror level (Ra ≤ 0.2 μ m) to ensure a golden luster.
Post processing:
Laser trimming: Avoid burrs affecting the appearance.
Surface coating: protective coating or printed pattern (optional UV varnish coating).
