Costco Supermarket's Requirements for Blister Packaging Suppliers
2026-04-24
As a retail giant, Costco has a well-known "Sustainable Packaging Guide" with the core logic of "Six Rights", which presents very specific technical challenges to suppliers' vacuum forming processes:
Weight reduction and thinning (without affecting the protective function): Advanced molds must be used to precisely control the wall thickness in order to thin the material without breaking;
Display ready for sale: The packaging should be able to be stacked directly, and the mold design should be reinforced with ribs, matched with shape following cooling to avoid warping and ensure compression resistance;
Mandatory use of RPET: Recycled materials are brittle and require real-time temperature control by intelligent molds to ensure transparency and toughness;
Durable for long-distance transportation: The mold needs to be evenly cooled to avoid internal stress in the packaging and prevent brittle cracking during cold chain transportation.
